"Give away your life;
you'll find life given back, but not merely given back — given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting is the way. Generosity begets generosity." Luke 6:38
We ask everyone to give a gift. We know that when we open ourselves up to being actively generous, we feel good. The act of giving becomes a gift we give ourselves. We realize anew that we have been blessed and have much to offer the world and the people around us.
We ask you to consider what gift you would like to give to the church. When we become filled with gratitude for the gifts God has given us, we are filled with the desire to give back to God some of what God has given us.
When Jesus tells the story of the widow who gave two mites—two very small coins not worth much, but by comparison to what she had it was worth nearly everything—he is really speaking of the widow’s might. The act of her gift was more powerful than its size. The church understands that the recent economic situation is still having an effect on many, but for others it may have been a time of plenty or recovery. Please prayerfully consider how God has blessed your life and how you might return the gift to God through your offering of prayer, time, talent and treasure to God’s work through the ministries of Christ Church in Salt Lake City. Every gift makes a difference, no matter the size.
At Christ Church, we know that your gifts of time, talent and treasure make a powerful, positive difference in our community, nation and world, and we pray that with each act of generosity the giver will discover the joy and blessing that comes into our lives when we give generously for God's work in the world through the church and other non-profit organizations.
