Outdoor & Sports

Trekkers LogoCome and join the CUMC Trekkers for fun, fellowship, and fresh air, as we explore the wonderful blessings of God's natural world along the Wasatch Mountains.  Coordinated outings are offered throughout the year for all ages and abilities.  We hike, and snowshoe, and participate in activities that give us a chance to experience the great outdoors.  And we mix it up so there is something for everyone.

Being a CUMC Trekker will give you the opportunity to walk along forest paths and hike to mountain tops.  Bring the whole family and experience picturesque waterfalls, serene lakes, and stunning wildflowers.  Best of all, it is a chance for old friends to stroll together and new friendships to be sparked along the way.

As a Trekker, you will receive event notifications which include a description of upcoming activities, the gathering place and time, ability level, and any special instructions.

We are always looking for new ways to share the outdoor experience.  So if you are passionate about some natural place or activity, and are so inclined, we will help you lead an outdoor Trekker event of your own.

1K Kid's Fun Run

After 10 years, The Running for Relief 5K Run/Walk and 1K Kid's Fun Run has been put to bed. We want to thank all of our supporters throughout the years from church members, volunteers, runners and walkers, and community members and businesses.

During the past ten years, over $40,000 has been donated to various relief efforts. The main benefactor of the annual 5K Run is the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Through UMCOR proceeds have been used to aid relief efforts in Japan, Haiti, the Congo, Women in Development, Darfur, the Phillipines, and the Sudan. Race proceeds have also been donated to both local and international organizations such as Hopekids, UT, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Utah Food Bank, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Volunteers of America's Homeless Youth Resource Center (SLC), the Fisher House (SLC), the Ronald Mc Donald House, Central Asia Institute, HopeKids, UT, the Wounded Warriors Project,  Team Kid Courage, relief efforts with the Missions Committee of CUMC, and the Utah/Southern Idaho Multiple Sclerosis Society.
