Outreach & Missions

The Church & Society Committee is a long standing part of Methodist churches. Its role at Christ Church is to support efforts to address community needs regarding education, children and families, and the environment. We focus mostly on our local community. Some of the programs we contribute to are listed here:

  • Scholarships through Westminster College and the Alberta Henry Foundation
  • Crossroads Urban Center -Donated items may be placed in the marked bins inside entrance at West and North doors. The Food of the Month  and Thrift Store Item of the Month can be found in the weekly bulletin and in the monthy Connection.

  • Missions Committee - a personal story about malaria in Kenya, 2011, from Jody Mattena, RN, EMT.
    "Nothing But Nets" is an international effort through the global United Methodist Church which saves millions of children from malaria by distributing sleeping nets to protect them from the disease-carrying mosquitoes.

CUMC won 3rd place by donating and delivering  6,379.4 lbs of food of the 19,114 lbs total donation.
