The stained glass windows in the narthex were designed by local artist Eileen Vestal, a member of this congregation. As one departs the sanctuary down the central aisle: the panel on the right depicts the red rock desert, mesas and canyons of southern Utah; the panel on the left represents Utah’s alpine forests and mountain peaks.
A Bible verse from Isaiah, Chapter 55:12 ties both panels together.
“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace. The mountains and hills will burst in song before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”
Dividing the two landscape panels are four vertical windows, dedicated to the memory of Cathy Liam, a CUMC member and former member of the Wesley Bell Ringers. The four symbols that memorialize her are a bell, a heart made of roses, a shining crown and a cross.
