A CHALLENGE:
"VIRTUAL" MOUNTAIN OF FOOD
for Crossroads' Pantry
We have been asked to increase our food donations for Crossroads Food Pantry.
During July, weekly donations will be tallied by pound and posted on a sign with the goal of creating a "Virtual" Mountain of Food by month's end.
Look in your cabinets and pantry - see what you can share. Look in the store when you go and see what you can buy for some less fortunate than you and your family.
Every Sunday in July, place the items you have brought for Crossroads in one of the three maroon colored bins labeled for the Food Pantry. Look for them near the elevator, gymnasium doors, and in the Sanctuary Narthex in the south-east corner of the church.
Summer brings many people to Salt Lake City with the hope of getting a job. Fate strikes many of these folks with illnesses, accidents, tranportation problem, crushed dreams and no expected income.
Just to put some adventure into this challenge, Jessica and Scott Patton of First United Methodist Church of SLC , UT have challenged us to compete against them in generating the largest total of donations in this coming month of July, 2008.
The first ever Golden Celery Trophy will be awarded to the church that generates the most food donations. We need to determine where we will display that trophy at Christ United Methodist Church!
